Bhubaneswar: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence once again foiled a gold smuggling bid at Bhubaneswar airport today and seized gold bars weighing around 1 kg from a lady passenger.

As per reports, after witnessing suspicious movement of a lady passenger arriving from New Delhi via flight no- AI-077, the Revenue Intelligence officials intercepted her and found eight gold bars conclealed inside her personal baggage.

The bars weighing 959 grams are worth over Rs 33 lakh. The sleuths also seized 122 packets of foreign cigarettes from her possession after scanning her bags. The cost of the cigarettes is believed to be around Rs 1.22 lakh.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the lady passenger is a resident of Maharastra.
