1 arrested in molestation case

Suresh Mallick, the auto-rickshaw driver of Gop area in Puri district, was arrested in connection with the Sunday night molestation case. Mallick was arrested after the girl identified him at an autorickshaw stand in the city, police said.

The 20-year-old girl from Kendrapara district was allegedly molested in the moving auto-rickshaw on Sunday night while she was going to Master Canteen area from bus terminal at Barmunda. The miscreants threw the girl out of the moving auto-rickshaw when she raised an alarm.

In a separate development, a police team from here left for Kolkata after getting a clue that one of the accused involved in the gangrape on Wednesday night had fled to the eastern metropolis.

The alleged molestation incident took place two days after the alleged gang rape of a 19-year-old dancer in the city.
