Youth critical after tree branch pierces through neck

Keonjhar: A youth is now battling for life after a portion of a tree branch got stuck in his neck in a mishap at Dangar Diha village under Ghatagaon police limits in Keonjhar on Thursday.

According to reports, a branch pierced through Bishnu Mahakud's body after he accidentally fell of a black plum tree yesterday.

Following the incident, Mahakud was first rushed to Ghatagaon hospital and later shifted to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital in a critical condition.

As the doctors could not remove the branch from Mahakud's body following threat to life, he was referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

"The youth has been admitted to cardiothoracic department. A team of doctors successfully removed the branch from his body after a major surgery today," said SCB Emergency Officer, BN Moharana.

Moharana further informed that the 14-year-old youth would be kept under observation in the ICU for a couple of days.
