Bhubaneswar: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday unearthed vital information regarding deposit of Rs 14.77 crore in the bank accounts of Akash, son of suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak who was earlier arrested in a disproportionate assets case.
“Analysis of statements of three bank accounts Akash Pathak in Bhubaneswar and Pune showed cash deposits of Rs 9.48 crore and deposits through transfer/clearings of Rs.5.29 crore, totalling Rs14.77 crore. Verification of land records and educational expenditure is being made,” said Vigilance in a statement.
Earlier, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) examined three Forest Department officers (one DFO, two ACFs) and the travel and tour operator who was handling bookings of air tickets, chartered flights, hotels of both Pathak and his son Akash.
The driver of Pathak was also quizzed by Vigilance officials. Similarly, the CCTV footages were also seized from the residence and the apartment searched earlier.
The Vigilance officials further informed that verification was also conducted at previous places where Pathak has served in office including at Rajgangpur, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Angul, Boudh, Koraput and Berhampur.
The office of PCCF and Forest & Environment Department was also searched today.
“The officers of State Forensic Science Laboratory, Bhubaneswar have started forensic examination of the seized cell phones, laptops and other seized devices of the Pathak’s,” said the Vigilance statement read.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Special Investigation Team of the Vigilance department comprising of 3 Additional SsP, 4 DSsP, 3 Inspectors, Bank Consultant, Chartered Accountant and Forensic Auditor and others are conducting investigation into various aspects of the case relating to Pathak and his son.
