Malkangiri: In a major breakthrough, police on Sunday arrested three Maoists in Teckguda district here. The arrested ultras have been identified as Linga Madkami and Linga Majhi. The duo was arrested during a joint combing operation by SOG and DVF personnel.

Acting on tip off, police raided a camp in Teckguda forest and nabbed them. However, rest of the rebels managed to flee from the camp. The police have seized a claymore mine and a rifle from them.

Within the past three years Madkami and Majhi were active in much Maoist mayhem in Kalimela area, police informed.

Meanwhile, rebels have called a three-day strike in Raighar block in Nabrangpur. The Maoists in the wake of the strike have blocked Raighar-Kundei road by felling trees thereby disrupting vehicular movement.

The locals fearing the rebels are using a different route for communication and transportation purpose. However, police is ready to tackle any kind of untoward situation in the area, IIC Ramkrushna Pati said.

Earlier, in a Maoist attack the rebels had blew up the Kundei police station here.
