Bhubaneswar: Governor of Odisha Prof. Ganeshi Lal on Monday appointed new Vice-Chancellors to two State-run universities.
Professor Umaballava Mohapatra and Professor Sanjay Kumar Satapathy have been appointed as the Vice- Chancellors of Rajendra University, Bolangir and Kalahandi University, Bhawanipatna respectively.
Chancellor of Universities in Odisha, Professor Lal appointed both the top educationists as the Vice-Chancellors of the prestigious varsities for a period of four years with effect from the date they assume office.
The appointments have been made in exercise of the powers conferred to the Chancellor by Sub Section (1) and Sub-Section (7) under Section 6 of Odisha Universities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
Mohapatra, a retired professor of Botany from North Odisha University, has teaching experience of around 33 years. He has authored one book and successfully guided 14 PhD and 24 MPhil scholars.
Similarly, Satapathy is a retired professor of commerce from Ravenshaw University. He is credited to having penned as many as 24 books including 13 academic pieces. Boasting 36 years of teaching experience, Satapathy has successfully guided 20 PhD scholars.
Last year on November 24, Professor Lal had appointed new VCs to six State-run universities. In September, three-member search committees had been formed by the Chancellor of the universities for selection of the Vice-Chancellors for the six universities.
