Puri: Locals of Rahangarada village have been left grappling with problems after the flood that hit the district in August this year. Several roads connecting the village with different areas have either been washed away or partially damaged.
Transport and communication facilities have been severely affected. Even ambulance is unable to reach the village as the roads have been washed away. It has already been around two months, but no government officials have come here for inspection, alleged a villager.
"We demand immediate repair of the roads. If the government doesn't listen to our woes, we will have to hit the streets," he said.
Narrating their ordeal, another local resident warned, "We will gherao the block office. If needed, we will also sit on fast unto death. What else can we do if the government turn a blind eye to our problems."
On the other hand, following the flood in the State, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced a special package of Rs 300 crore for livelihood support for the farmers affected by it.
Incessant rainfall and the subsequent flood had damaged standing crops in different districts of the State in August.
This apart, immediate assistance of 50 KG rice and Rs 500 to each family in the severely flood-hit districts of the State.
