Kendrapara: Immersion ritual of Goddess Saraswati turned tragic today as two school children were feared drowned near Amrutamanei bathing ghat in Brahmani river under Pattamundai police station, the police said.
The missing children were identified as Saroj Das (14) and Debapriya Das (15), students of nearby Baluria high school.
The mishap occurred when they fell on the slippery stone slabs of the ghat, the sources said.
Fire brigade personnel have failed to find the missing duo from the river.
"The schools and mass education department authorities have been asked to conduct an inquiry into the mishap," said Kendrapara Collector, Dhananjaya Das.
