Tusker carcass found in Angul forest

Angul: The carcass of a 25-year-old tusker was found in Badagunduri forest  under Khamar range of Angul district today.

Though the exact reason behind the death of the jumbo is yet to be established, it is suspected that the animal  was killed for its tusks. The tusks of the pachyderm were sawed allegedly by the poachers, informed sources.

Meanwhile, the Forest department officials have reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

"On getting information we reached the spot. Investigation is underway and the poachers will be nabbed soon," informed Deogarh Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Karthik Samant.
