Three killed, 2 critical in landslide 'triggered by rain' in Koraput

Koraput: At least three persons including two women died in a landslide today at Karanjiguda hill near Dalpatiguda village under Pottangi Police limits of Koraput district.

According to sources, as many as 10 persons had gone to the spot to mine sandstone and while digging the earth, a landslide was triggered burying five of them alive.

Immediately after the incident, local residents rescued two persons in critical condition and later admitted them to Pottangi Community Health Centre (CHC). After getting information, a team of Pottangi Police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.

The landslide occurred due to incessant rain in the area, sources said.
