Theft Accused Gives Cops A Slip During 'Tea Break'!

Sonepur: A youth arrested by Deogaon police on charges of stealing electric wires, escaped from the custody while he was being taken from Gunderpur village to Guruthu Bharasagar in the district on Saturday.

A four-member team led by Deogaon IIC Lokanath Bhoi were reportedly taking the accused in police van to Deogaon via Subarnapur road. Midway near Block Chhak, Bhoi along with ASI Dunardhan Sahu and two other Constables got off the vehicle to have tea at a stall, having no idea of the consequences it will lead to.

Taking an advantage of the situation, the accused who was in handcuffs and a witness sitting in the rear seat of the police van, opened the door and jumped out of the vehicle. Though the cops launched a franctic search in all nearby areas, the accused could not be traced.

Meanwhile, the incident has created a furore among many who have raised questions on the negligence of on-duty police officials.

Asked about the development, police denied to comment anything on the issue while the manhunt is still on, till the filing of this report.
