Bhubaneswar: A day after becoming the hottest place in the country with a maximum temperature of 44.2 degree Celsius, Bhubaneswar witnessed a slight drop in the day temperature on Thursday, bringing much-needed relief for the city-dwellers.
According to the evening weather bulletin of the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, the capital city recorded 39.8 degree Celsius on Thursday. On the other hand, 14 places in the State recorded temperature above 40 degree Celsius today.
Angul and Talcher with a maximum day temperature of 42.7 degree Celsius jointly emerged hottest places in the State. Other stations which registered temperature above 40 degree are Baripada (42.2), Titilagarh (42.2), Paralakhemundi (42.2) Malkangiri (42.0), Boudh (42.0), Nayagarh (41.7), Sonepur (40.8), Jharsuguda (40.6), Sambalpur (41.4), Sundargarh (41.5), Hirakud (40.7) and Bhawanipatna (41.6).
As per the bulletin of the Indian Meteorological Centre, the maximum temperature (Day temperature) is very likely to gradually fall by 3-4 degree C from tomorrow (02.04.2021) over the districts of Odisha. The maximum and minimum temperature is very likely to be around 40°C and 26°C respectively.
Yesterday, Bhubaneswar broke a 73-year record when the maximum temperature went up to 44.2 degree Celsius, the highest recorded temperature for the month of March ever since its formation as the State Capital in 1948.
The previously recorded maximum temperature for the month was 42.2 Deg C on March 21, 2016, informed the Regional Meteorological Centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD).
