Bhubaneswar: Allegations of forcing aspiring actresses to indulge in sexual activities with casting agents in cinema or television programmes are not new for the entertainment industry. Allegations of rampant ‘casting couch’ during realty shows organised by some entertainment channels in Odisha too are doing rounds.

As an aberration, however, Tarang TV, a sister concern of OTV, which successfully organised a popular realty show titled 'Kie Heba Mo Heroine' last year, has really explored the inner talents of the promising actresses.

The leading entertainment channel of Odisha hunted for a new face through the show for the lead female role in the debut venture of another sister concern Tarang Cine Productions.

“As per commitment, Tarang conducted the show and shortlisted the top talents in a transparent manner,” said Elina Samantray, who became heroine in Ollywood after participating in it. "Tarang has given me a special identity in Odia film industry. What I am now, it is only because of this channel," she said.

Her mother, a housewife, also felt that Tarang's was different from other channels organising various realty shows. “A little bit of ill treatment or misbehaviour is being experienced at other channels' shows. But the conduct at Tarang’s show was very sober," she explained.

Many channels and private entertainment organisations are allegedly involved in the shameful act giving aspirants false promises of making them heroines. The reality is different as the aspirants are returning empty-handed even after being sexually exploited by the casting agents and top officials of the production houses.

Notably, the Season-II of Tarang’s show is going on these days – evoking similar response from the aspirants and, that too, without any fuss.
