Bhubaneswar: With all the 50 proposed plants in the state are yet to see light of the day, the Steel and Mines department will convene a two day review meeting on June 6 and 7 to take stock of the physical and financial progress of those plants.

On day one, the meeting under the aegis of Steel and Mines Minister Raghunath Mohanty will review the MoUs of 11 major projects including POSCO India Pvt Ltd, Arcelor Mittal India Limited, Tata Steel, Essar Steel Odisha Ltd and 13 others.

The meeting would review the progress work of 26 other companies on the second day, according to an official.  Before the review meeting, the department has also asked the concerned companies to submit progress report which must furnish details on land acquisition, projects undertaken at the plant site, production during 2011-12, number of Odia workers at plant, revenue to the government and tax paid for peripheral development.

It must be noted that after seven years of MoU signing while Posco India with the largest amount of foreign direct investment is yet to take off, the Arcelor Mittal project in Keonjhar has similar fate.
