Special rituals begin in Srimandir on Dhanu Sankranti

Puri: The special ‘Pahili Bhog Niti’ at Puri Srimandir started today on the occasion of Dhanu Sankranti. The rituals will continue till January 13, a day before 'Makar Sankranti'.

In view of the special rituals, the main door of the sanctum sanctorum was opened at 3 am today.

The main gate will now open at 3 am and close at 11 pm till January 13, informed Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator, Pradipta Mohapatra after a meeting of the Chhatisa Nijog held on Saturday.

The Nijog also decided on the rituals to be held on January 1 i.e. New Year. As per the decision, the main door of the 12th century shrine will open at 2.30 am on January 1.

Similarly, a discussion was held on accepting donation from devotees and repair work of Nata Mandir.
