Skeleton In Seized Car: NHRC Asks Odisha DGP To Take Action In 8 Weeks

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha to take appropriate action within eight weeks in a case related to the recovery of skeleton of a woman from a parked car on the premises of a police outpost on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

In a letter to DGP Abhay, the NHRC stated, “This complaint be transmitted to the concerned authority for such action as deemed appropriate. The authority concerned is directed to take appropriate action within eight weeks associating the complainant/victim and to inform him/her of the action taken in the matter.”

In the meantime, the police have reportedly got some vital clues from their investigation into the case. Based on the clues, police would conduct DNA test on a particular family even as the identity of the woman is still unknown.

Earlier, the police had released sketches of the deceased woman and put up posters at various places to establish her identity.

A post-mortem at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar had revealed that the body was of a 45-year-old woman.

The skeleton was recovered from a seized car parked on the premises of Janla outpost. An assistant sub-inspector, who was also in-charge of the police outpost, was suspended following the incident.

The car in which the remains of the woman were recovered had been seized two years ago in connection with a ganja smuggling case.
