Cuttack: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Supreme Court to oversee probe in black money used during the general elections last year will submit its seventh interim report in the next two months.
The information regarding submission of the report was given by SIT Vice-Chairman, Justice (retired) Arijit Pasayat today after a meeting with other stakeholders at his residence in Cuttack. A detailed discussion was held on use of black money during the general elections.
According to sources, a huge amount of cash, jewellery and drugs were seized by police and income tax officials from various states during the 2019 elections. The police and other agencies have submitted reports on the seizures of cash and other items.
“Status of the probe on the seizure of cash, drugs and jewellery during 2019 elections in different states and conviction of criminals was thoroughly discussed in the meeting,” Pasayat said.
“We have submitted six interim reports on the probe and the seventh report will be submitted within two months,” the SIT vice-chairman added.
The meeting was attended by officials of Enforcement Directorate (ED), CBI, Vigilance, GST, Finance Ministry and Home Ministry. Besides, Director of Election Commission Of India, Vikram Batra, was also present.
