Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: As many as 370 residents of the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were booked by the Commissionerate Police for violation of the Supreme Court directive on bursting of firecrackers on Diwali.

Cases have been registered against 140 persons while Rs 1.15 lakh fine was collected from 230 persons for bursting crackers beyond the stipulated time on Diwali, official sources said.

The Commissionerate Police informed that violators against whom cases have been registered will be forwarded to court soon.

Earlier, on October 23 the apex court had stipulated that crackers should be burst only between 8 PM and 10 PM.
