Bhubaneswar: Expressing solidarity with the family of CRPF constable Manoj Kumar Behera martyred in a deadly terrorist attack in Pulwama of Jammu and Kashmir on February 14, the SBI & SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd. has settled the insurance claim of Rs 3.17 lakh on its own, without insisting on any documents from his legal heirs, within a week of the incident.

The SBI, in a statement on Tuesday, said, “SBI & SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd has today settled the insurance claim amount of Rs 317400 without insisting on any documents from the legal heirs and even before the claim could be lodged."

The amount of insurance was reportedly handed over to Behera's mother, Sabitri Behera by DGM (B&O) of SBI Bhubaneswar Zone-1 Rajay Kumar Singh and Regional Manager of SBI Puri Region Jyoti Narayan Mohanty at Behera's native Ratanpur village under Niali area of Cuttack district.

Singh has also advised the Branch Manager of SBI Tulashipur to extend all kinds of support to the bereaved family at their doorstep in coming days.

As many as 45 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawans including two Odias- Manoj Behera and Prasanna Sahu, lost their lives after a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into the bus carrying the jawans on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on February 14.
