Sanitary Staff Who Administered Injection To Patient Disengaged

Dhenkanal: A sanitation worker who had reportedly administered an injection to patient at Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital has been disengaged from service.

The sanitation worker, Manorama Behera, was found administering injection to a female patient and a video of the incident had gone viral on social media platform recently.

Similarly, the hospital authorities on Thursday also issued a show-cause notice to staff nurse Saswati Behera who was on-duty when the incident took place.

According to sources, the viral video purportedly showed the contractual sanitation worker administering injection to a woman patient admitted to the hospital for treatment.

“The sanitary staff was a contractual worker and we have written to the contractor to disengage her from the service as she worked outside her authority. We have also sent the staff nurse on leave and asked her to submit a written explanation about the incident. Our disciplinary committee will decide what action will be taken against her as per law,” said CDMO Niranjan Mishra.
