Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will take a final call on the reopening of schools after reviewing the COVID-19 situation by October end, said School and Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash, on Tuesday.
Dash told reporters that the Centre has already left the decision on States to come up with necessary safety guidelines for reopening of schools in their respective jurisdictions.
Already Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced that all the schools and other educational institutions in the State will remain closed till Durga Puja.
“No doubt the schools need to reopen. But Odisha government will take an appropriate decision after reviewing the COVID-19 situation by October end,” said Dash.
The School and Mass Education Minister further informed that already the State government has reduced the syllabus by 30 percent. However, the reopening of schools will be completely dependent on the COVID situation by this month end.
“Our priority is the health of students. Odisha government will take appropriate decision at the right time by October end,” Dash added.
