Rajgangpur rape case: Two nabbed from Ranchi
Rourkela: Five days after a girl was raped in Sundargarh district, police today nabbed the two youths from Ranchi in this connection. The 20-year-old plus three student of Government College here was allegedly gangraped after being kidnapped by the youths belonging to her community on Tuesday when she had been to Rajgangpur to participate in Urs festival, police said.
The girl belonged to Kukudamunda under Rajgangpur police station while the accused, who are known to her, hailed from nearby Khatkurbahal. The youths, aged about 25 years each, had kidnapped her from the festival in a jeep on the night of January 10 and dropped near her village next morning after sexually assaulting her, police said.
Meanwhile, a police team from Rajgangpur rushed to Ranchi and nabbed the duo identified as Mohammed Sibani and Mohammed Imran from Duranda police station limits of Ranchi this morning, DIG of Police (Western Range), Y K Jethwa said.
The vehicle used in the crime was also seized and they were being brought to Rajgangpur for more interrogation, he said. A medical examination conducted on the girl confirmed that she was gangraped by the duo, additional superintendent of police, Sundargarh, Mahesh Narayan Bohidar said.
