Bhubaneswar: The final architectural plan of Odisha government’s mega heritage corridor project for Puri Jagannath Temple will be finalised by March end or first week of April, informed chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Krishan Kumar on Tuesday.
At a high-level meeting chaired by Gajapati Maharaj Dibyasingha Deb, deliberations were held on suggestions received on the draft architectural plan of Shree Jagannath Heritage Corridor Project which was released by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in December last year.
Bhomiputra, the Bangalore-based company, which has been entrusted with the job today made presentations and showcased the first blue print for the heritage corridor project.
Gajapati Maharaj suggested inclusion space for Sankirtan and Yajnas. Besides proposals were also given for dedicated facilities for devotees and arrangements so that nearly 5,000 devotees can sit and have ‘Mahaprasad’ simultaneously.
Senior servitors informed that several suggestions including preservation of ritualistic pathways which are used for the conduct of several festivals and integration of lanes near Srimandir.
Padma Vibhushan and master sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra, however, stated that no emphasis has been given to Kalinga architecture in the proposed plan which was shown today.
Earlier last year, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik had sought suggestions from people on the beautification and heritage corridor project while releasing its draft architectural plan. So far, 231 suggestions have been received through e-mails which are now being examined, official sources said.
