Bhubaneswar: In view of the proposed nation-wide launch of Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG (DBTL) scheme from January 1, 2015, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday said Odisha government’s effort in the direction of implementation of the progarmme in the state is not encouraging.
Emerging from a review meeting on the progress of DBTL scheme in the state, Pradhan told mediapersons, “In the state, only 10-12% of subsidised gas consumers have been brought under the programme, which is not enough to meet the deadline.”
“To meet the deadline, Odisha has been given a target of inclusion of 2% consumers each day under the scheme,” he added.
The Union minister talked to the Collectors of Puri, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj and Sambalpur districts through video-conferencing in the presence of state Supplies Secretary Madhusudan Padhee and other government officials during the meeting.
According to sources, there are around 28 lakh subsidised LPG consumers in the state.
The deadline for the implementation of the DBTL scheme throughout the country is March 31, 2015. Under the scheme, Rs 568 subsidy will be directly credited to the bank account of the consumers.
