Cuttack: Resentment is now brewing among students and lecturers as principal of Cuttack Law College allegedly continues to hold office despite attaining retirement age.
Though the managing committee of the college had asked Samant Kumar Ray to relinquish the Principal post, he is yet to follow such orders.
It is alleged that there has been corruption in the college as admission fee was collected from students in cash this year.
“After joining the college, I learnt that the Principal is continuing despite attaining retirement age. Neither classes are held regularly nor do faculty members come to the classes. Besides, fee has been taken from the first year student in the form of cash which indicates towards some irregularities,” said Samantanka Mishra, lecturer.
“Though in the intimation letter, it was mentioned that fees can paid through demand draft or cash, the college authorities strictly asked us to pay in cash,’’ alleged Swagatlaxmi Sinha, a student.
Meanwhile, the Law College principal Samant Kumar Ray refuted the allegations levelled against him.
“As per the management decision the retirement age is 65 and I have not violated the norm. Last year also the fees were collected in cash while everything is maintained in the cash book,” he said.
