Bhubaneswar: Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad chief Pravin Togadia, who is seen as a prominent critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government at the Centre, today accused the Modi government of being indifferent towards farmers' issues in the country.
PM Modi didn't keep the promises he had made before the 2014 general elections and it gave birth to resentment among people, especially farmers; and the BJP's defeat in the recently concluded assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan is a testament to it, said Togadia after reaching here on Sunday.
He said that the BJP didn't waive off farm loans in the very interest of farmers of the country and, adding to it, it neither created jobs for youths nor set up Ram Mandir in the last four-and-a-half years of its rule.
"As he (PM Modi) failed to keep his promises, BJP had to face defeat in the recent elections in the three states," said Togadia.
Togadia is set to attend several programmes in Bhadrak, Jeypore and Jharsuguda today.
It is worth mentioning that Togadia had launched the new outfit (Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad) after being virtually sidelined from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad early this year. His new outfit has reportedly come up with an objective to consolidate the Hindu votes and project itself as an alternative to the BJP.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders are yet to respond to Togadia's comment. Once available, the story will be updated.
