Puri: Determined to stay connected with its viewers and people affected by Cyclone Fani, Odisha Television Limited (OTV), the No. 1 News Channel of Odisha, has taken up the initiative to put up LED TVs in the pilgrim town to broadcast news through its channel as Puri faces complete blackout in the aftermath of the severe cyclonic storm.
Reportedly, OTV team has put up giant LED screens in various parts of Puri, starting from the vicinity of Puri Srimandir to Gundicha temple and looks to cover other regions with each passing day till power is completely restored in the town.
The initiative has been taken up to provide news updates to the residents who are facing complete black out for the past 11 days since Fani. Every day, large number of people gather in front of the giant screens to remain updated about the current happenings.
Responding to OTV's initiative, one of the locals said, "We are thankful to OTV for its effort. This TV has informed us about the damage our State and district has faced in the cyclone. We are getting to know about the Government's advances in restoration. We were unaware of the happenings since so many days."
"First the TV was put up on Bada Danda in front of Puri Srimandir. Now it has been put up in Gundicha. We have been watching the news here daily. Thanks to OTV," said another local.
Speaking about the response of locals for the TV, the OB Van and TV operator said, "The response has been good. Many people have been gathering to watch the TV. It feels good to be able to provide this facility.

Not only this, OTV has been lending a hand in Cyclone Fani's restoration as well. The OTV Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team has also launched cleanliness drives in the capital city post Fani. OTV's office is also providing water to the residents of slum near Prasanti Vihar since the cyclone. Even during the storm, the OTV building served as a cyclone shelter for the slum dwellers.
