(image) Bhubaneswar:  The Members of State pollution control board to investigate the oil leak in the Haldia-Paradip oil and gas pipeline at Mangrajpur in Paradip.

An oil leak was found in a pipeline of an oil refinery project of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) at Mangrajpur. This incident raised the eyebrows of environmentalist on the impact of the oil leak on marine life.

According to reports, fishes worth Rs 20 lakh have died due to this incident. It is also suspected that the oil has spilled into other rivers.

The IOCL officials had been sent to the spot to assess and check the leakage.

Earlier in 2009, a similar leakage was found on the Haldia-Paradip oil and gas pipeline in Bhadrak.

In a similar incident, some houses and agricultural fields were affected at Jagannathpur village in Angul district recently when the ash pipeline of Talcher Thermal Power Station (TTPS) busted nearby.
