Advisory committee meeting to beef up security at Puri railway station

Puri: With an aim to beef up security at Puri railway station, an advisory committee meeting was held here on Tuesday.

The meeting, attended by officials of Railway Police Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), has decided to install more CCTVs inside the railway station and luggage scanners.

Besides, the committee also decided to complete the construction of boundary around the station.

In another development, Subhash Ramchandran, the accused in Puri train coaches burning case, was today shifted to Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar.

Sources said his trial will also be shifted to Khurda District and Sessions Judge Court.

The relocation was carried out based on the December 10 order of a Puri based court. Earlier, the Government Railway Police (GRP) had moved the court seeking transfer of the case and Subhash to Bhubaneswar citing security concerns and smoother investigation.

On the other hand, National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is investigating the case, has decided to set up a transit camp in Puri for at least a month.
