Berhampur: In a sensational revelation to the murderous attack on an 8-year old girl in Golanthara area, the Berhampur additional Superintendent of Police on Sunday said that the miscreants raped her and later tried to murder her.
Speaking to media, the senior police official said, "The miscreants forcibly abducted the minor girl and gang raped her. When she resisted, they thrashed her mercilessly."
"The assailants also hit the minor girl's head, face and ear with a brick which has been recovered. So far, two persons have been arrested in connection with the case," he said.
A case has been registered under POCSO Act and Sec 365, 366, 376DB, 307 and 34 of IPC, sources in the police said, adding that the minor girl is still undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
