Patient injured after portion of hospital ceiling collapses

Puri: A patient at the Puri district headquarters hospital (DHH) had a narrow escape on Tuesday when a chunk of plaster fell on him from the ceiling causing injuries in his chest and shoulder.

The injured patient, identified as Raja Mohapatra was admitted to the Orthopaedic department where the mishap occurred.

Following the incident, the dilapidated condition of the ceiling has created a panic among other patients as well, informed sources.

Orthopaedic expert at the DHH, Subrata Mohanty said “The collapse of the portion of a ceiling plaster is not a lone case as earlier also similar incidents have happened. We have already informed the higher-ups and the district Collector about the issue, but repairing is yet to be done.”
