Bhadrak: Tension prevailed at Basudevpur community health centre in the district on Sunday after a patient stumbled upon a dead centipede from her meal.
According to reports, the woman identified as Barsha, the gestating wife of Prakash Behera from Matipaka village, was admitted in the hospital for delivery. After her childbirth, she was served idli and curry in her meal. However much to her astonishment, she came across a dead centipede found the food.
The incident sparked tension in the hospital as the woman’s attendants, acquaintances and other locals went berserk in the premises.
The relatives of other patients also put question marks over the quality of food and hygiene of the hospital and made the hospital authorities responsible for the kind of lackadaisical attitude.
Family members of Barsha have submitted a written complaint to the Chief Medical Officer of the hospital Dr Santosh Kumar Patra about the incident.
“My wife had taken half of the food when she found the centipede. I took up the matter with the hospital authorities. However, they didn’t pay any attention and asked me to shut up. Food in the hospital is supplied from outside that too during this prevailing Covid crisis which is ever more serious. Who will be responsible if anything happens to my wife and child?” asked Barsha’s husband Prakash.
Meanwhile, the CMO of the hospital Dr. Santosh Kumar Patra has ordered a probe into the incident.
“The incident is quiet unfortunate. I have ordered an investigation into the incident. Stern action will be taken against the erring employees after a proper probe,” assured Patra.
