Cuttack: A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed in the Orissa High Court on Thursday seeking probe by the Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged abduction and subsequent murder of five-year-old girl ‘Pari’ in Nayagarh district in July this year.
Social organisation, Bharatiya Bikash Parishad, which filed the PIL, has also sought Rs 25 lakh compensation for the next kin of the deceased minor girl.
The Odisha government and the Nayagarh district administration have been made parties in the petition.
The matter has sparked massive public outrage across the state with Opposition parties coming together over the demand for immediate expulsion of Minister Arun Sahoo for his alleged complicity in the case.
It is pertinent to mention here that the deceased minor girl’s parents had attempted suicide before Odisha Assembly on Tuesday after they allegedly failed to seek justice for their daughter. They had accused Minister Arun Sahoo of shielding the perpetrators of the crime.
On July 14, Pari was allegedly abducted when she was playing outside her residence in Jadupur village. Though her parents ran from pillar to post seeking help of local police and administration to trace her, their desperate pleas were repeatedly ignored.
Exactly ten days later, the minor girls’ bones and body chopped in parts, stashed in a sack, were found dumped in the backyard of her house in the village.
