Nayagarh: Ashok Sahu, father of the five-year-old girl ‘Pari’, whose death has triggered a statewide outrage, on Friday debunked the ‘human sacrifice’ theory made by the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) chairperson.
He further stated that OSCPCR chief Sandhyabati Pradhan’s statement intends to mislead the ongoing investigation.
A day earlier following a visit to the victim’s parents, OSCPCR chief had suspected that the little girl might have been killed for some human sacrifice rituals as her body was found in the village itself.
Dismissing the claims, Pari’s father Ashok Sahu said, “The practice of human sacrifice is not prevalent in Nayagarh. Forget about human sacrifices, people in the district even don’t sacrifice animals. Pradhan’s observation of Pari’s human sacrifice is her own opinion. Moreover, she is trying to mislead the investigation.”
“Pari was not sacrificed, but kidnapped and murdered for the trading of human organs. If Pari had been sacrificed, why her body was chopped into pieces,” he questioned.
Meanwhile, Pradhan stuck to her earlier statement today.
“I still suspect that Pari might have been killed for some human sacrifice rituals. The superstition is still prevalent in the area. I also suspect that the 5-year-old girl was raped,” she said.
Pradhan’s statement has now given a new twist to the entire incident which has already sparked a massive public outrage across Odisha.
