New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The National Commission for Protection Of Child Rights (NCPCR) on Friday issued summons to the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nayagarh to appear personally before the Commission for hearing in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of five-year-old girl Pari in Nayagarh.
Summon have been issued based on complaints that alleged the involvement of a 'human organ trafficking' syndicate behind the ghastly murder.
The chairperson of NCPCR, Priyank Kanungo informed the development through a tweet.
"The Commission in pursuance of its functions and powers u/s 13 and 14 of the CPCR Act,2005 is compelled to issue this summon for you to appear before the Commission through video conferencing on 9th December 2020 at 12 noon on Wednesday," the Commission mentioned in a statement.
They have also been directed to present the detailed Action Taken Report (ATR) comprising action taken in the matter, copy of FIR and other relevant documents.
The NCPCR had earlier issued a notice to the Odisha Chief Secretary seeking a report on the status of the investigation into the abduction and murder of the little girl in July this year.
On Monday, The Commission had registered a suo motu case after taking cognizance of the reports published in Odishatv.in pertaining to the murder and alleged involvement of powerful politicians in shielding the perpetrators.
Earlier, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra, who had submitted a memorandum to the Commission in this regard, has expressed gratitude to the Commission for issuing summon to the Collector and SP. Through his memorandum, he had urged to constitute a special panel to probe the heinous crime and the allegations of organ trafficking racket.
Patra had also slammed Odisha Agriculture Minister Arun Sahoo for his alleged role in the entire episode after an audio-tape conversation went viral.
Sahoo is now in the eye of storm after parents of the victim attempted suicide near the Assembly building last week, accusing the minister of shielding the prime accused- Babuli Nayak.
The minor girl went missing on July 14 last while she was playing near her home. Ten days after, the skeletal remains of the girl stuffed in a gunny bag were traced to the backyard of her house.
