Outrage after Gandhi statue defaced in Odisha

Talcher: A statue of Mahatma Gandhi was defaced by some miscreants at Amlapada Medical chhak in the district on Sunday.

Members of a social service organisation reportedly found the statue defaced with colour smeared over it yesterday night following which have they reportedly lodged a complaint at Talcher Police Station.

It is alleged that due to lack of police patrolling and callousness of the district administration, the area around the statue has become a den for miscreants.

While the incident has induced severe criticism from locals, police have said that stern action will be taken against the miscreants.
