Bhubaneswar: The head of the Human Resources Department of Odisha Television Ltd (OTV), Partha Nandy on Monday said that the sudden resignation of channel's Chief Operating Officer (COO) Nihar Ranjan Bhuyan was on account of the pressure exerted on the latter at the behest of the Odisha government.
Terming the senior employee’s exit as another example of the Odisha government's pressure tactics, Nandy said,"Nihar’s resignation was as expected. He was under pressure because his wife is a government employee. It is another example of Odisha government's pressure tactics. Moreover, he was not attending office due to illness for over a week," Nandy said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Nihar Ranjan had been interrogated by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch in connection with the Sarua land issue. Nihar had moved the Orissa High Court, seeking withdrawal of his name from the police complaint. Hearing his petition, the Court had granted him interim protection which has been extended till January 8, 2021.
