Yeshwant Jethwa posted as IG of SPG

Bhubaneswar/ New Delhi: The current inspector general (IG) of the South-Western range at Koraput, Yeshwant Jethwa has been posted as the IG of the Special Protection Group (SPG).

In a notification issued by the Union Home ministry, the Odisha government has been informed about the change and asked to relieve the officer within a week to take charge of his new post.

A 1994 batch Odisha Cadre IPS officer, Jethwa has been deputed in the Maoist-inflicted area of Odisha since 2013. Jethwa has been able to bring Maoist activities under control in the south western part of Odisha.

His new assignment is considered to be an important one considering the fact that SPG is a group of elite forces deployed to provide protection to the VVIPs such as the prime minster and the President.
