An eight-month old infant boy, who was branded with hot iron by his father to cure his illness in Mahuvatta village under Raighar police limits, died at the district headquarters hospital on Monday

Nabarangpur: An eight-month old infant boy, who was branded with hot iron by his father to cure his illness in Mahuvatta village under Raighar police limits, died at the district headquarters hospital on Monday.

Dr Dharani Ranjan Satpathy, paediatrician in the hospital, said the infant boy was admitted to the hospital late in the night on February 21 with severe lungs infection and anaemia. He was also suffering from acute malnutrition and low weight of only four kg.
