Bhubaneswar: Even as the Opposition parties have remained adamant in demand of strict action against Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Narayan Jena over his alleged involvement in the sex video clip and its link with engineering student Rishi Mohanty's death, the investigating sleuths today recorded statements of a woman and her mother under section 161 of CrPC at her home in the city.

The lady, who had appeared before media yesterday conforming her ignorance about the video and Rishi's death, has been asked today about her personal details like her relationship with the Mayor, Rishi and his family, an official said. The investigating officials also questioned her whether she has any link the dead engineering student.

Twin city commissioner YB Khurania asserted fair investigation is being undertaken. "Police is very closely looking at all available evidences. Our effort is to ensure a perfect investigation takes place. As I said whatever is required to be done as part of inquiry, we will do it", Khurania added.

On the other hand, politics over the controversial case has refused to die down as BJP organised a 'Janata Darbar' in the city to aware people while Congress has planned a mega rally in Jatani on January 4.

The saffron party organised street meeting at two places in the city today to attract people's attention through various poets and songs against the Mayor.

"BJP activists have attended the 'Janata Darbar' meeting today to aware people about the henious attempt to bury the law. Such event will continue till the guilty is punished", party State vice-president Sameer Mohanty said.

The Congress too has planned a rally on January 4 in Jatani to cash in on the burning issue ahead panchayat polls. "This is a big case. The Congress will extract as much mileage as the case is lingering. We will shortly launch a mega rally against the Mayor in Jatani on January 4 as per the direction of PCC president", senior Congress leader Suresh Chandra Routray said.

The BJD, however, reiterated its traditional dialogue of the party not sparing anybody who is found guilty in any matter.

"The court is the only authority which can give him clean chit. We are waiting. The leader of our party will not spare anybody proved to be guilty in any case", BJD spokesperson Prashant Nanda said.

The Oppositions had earlier alleged a woman claimed to be a social activists is working as an agent of the Mayor. Both Congress and BJP had demanded the lady who accompanied Rishi's girl friend to Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), be brought under the purview of inquiry.
