Bhubaneswar: School and Mass Education minister Debi Prasad Mishra on Thursday informed the State Assembly that the state government has decided to recruit teachers for the secondary schools by conducting a test on the pattern of Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET) through which teachers are recruited for primary schools.
Replying to a question by the MLAs of Ganjam district, including Digapahandi MLA Surya Narayan Patro, on the steps taken by the government to fill up a large number of vacant posts of teachers in government secondary high schools, the minister said the government is trying to sort out the problem very soon.
He said the state government has planned to conduct a quality teacher test on the pattern of Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET) for recruitment of secondary school teachers from the next academic session.
“By appointing quality teachers and conducting their orientation in regular intervals, we would be able to create a knowledge island at the block level”, the minister informed the House.
He, however, admitted the government is facing problems in the recruitment of teachers.
