Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP will elect its new State party President by the second week of January after the conclusion of the election of the presidents of 37 organisational districts.

This was decided by the party in a meeting held at the party office here to talk about the organisational poll.

“Discussion was held about the organsiational poll process and parameters for selection of president. We will chalk out the plans through consensus. By January first week, the district presidents will be elected while in the first phase of second week of January, the State president will be elected,” BJP national secretary, Suresh Pujari, told media persons after the meeting.

Pujari added in the new year the party will have a 'Nabakalebara' and a new State BJP president will be presented to the people of the State

Besides, the party has plans to launch new strategies to counter the ruling party in Odisha and strengthen its base.
Out of 999 circles (mandals) of the party in the State, president has been elected in 650 circles. Initial process for election of president of 32 organisational districts out of 37 districts is also completed, said sources in the party said.

The party’s State President KV Singhdeo, who was also present the meeting, said, “As per the directive of the party’s national president Amit Shah, the organization poll will be held and choose the president with consensus.”

Briefing mediapersons about the party’s strategy to counter BJD, state in-charge of BJP Arun Singh said, “Programmes will be held from February at the circle and block level and then at the district and State level so that our base gets strengthened. Local party activists will organise the progarmmes at the grass root level.”
