Bhubaneswar: Award-winning filmmaker Snehasis Das has begun shooting for his next film, titled ‘Spandan’, at various locations in and around Bhubaneswar.
Confirming the news to odishatv.in, the filmmaker said, “The film is based on the theme of organ donation of brain-dead patients. It is the first time I am making a half-hour long film.”
For the first time, the director has roped in a known face for the lead role: state award-winning actress Gargi Mohanty of ‘Krantidhara’ fame.
“It’s an interesting project. I found the story and character very challenging, which can help me to grow as an actress,” said the model-turned-actress.
Veteran actor Choudhary Bikash Das, Hara Rath, Sukant Rath, Susant Das Mohapatra and Linchon portraying the other characters in the film.
The film, being produced by a Bhubaneswar-based ‘Mother’, is slated to be screened on World Kidney Day on March 10.
"We have planned to complete shooting in just five days as we will focus on post-production work to get it ready in time," the city-based filmmaker added.
Snehasis, who is known for making films on environmental and developmental issues, has directed some critically acclaimed short films like ‘We Can Walk Together’, ‘The Thirsty Crow’ and ‘Catch Me If You Can’ among others.
