Matriculation examinee commits suicide in Puri

Puri: A Matriculation candidate on Monday allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at Badabiandi village under Brahmagiri block in the district.

The deceased has been identified as Naba Samal.

According to source, after returning from examination yesterday, Naba went to take bath to a nearby pond and never returned.

A woman of the village found Naba lying unconscious in a field close to the pond. On being informed about the incident, family members of Naba rushed to the spot.

Naba was first taken to Brahmagiri hospital in serious condition and later shifted to Puri district hospital when his condition deteriorated. He died at the government-run hospital while undergoing treatment there, the sources added.

Though the exact reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained, family members suspect that dismal performance in the paper yesterday might have forced him to take the extreme step.
