Narayanpatna (Koraput): A day after the fierce gun-battle between BSF jawans and Maoists in Malkangiri in which one rebel was killed, the left wing extremists took revenge today by killing a villager at Odiapentha here in the neighboring district last night, police said today.
The deceased identified as Komulu Maniaka was asleep while 15 to 20 armed rebels entered the house at around 9 pm last night and snapped electricity connection. They attacked Maniaka with a sharp weapon killing on the spot, family members said.
They have left behind no posters owning responsibility or mentioning reason of the murder, sources added. But, all of them came in maoist uniform, wife of the deceased said.
On Sunday, a Maoist cadre was killed in an encounter with security forces in a forest at Chindrakonda of Malkangiri district while rest of his companions fled from the site. After the gun-battle, two guns and some Naxal materials were seized.
