Health min reviews dengue situation in Odisha; 1,000 test +ve

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak on Monday convened a high-level review meeting to take stock of the situation in the state arose due to dengue as well as the preparedness of the department for the disease.

The minister told mediapersons blood samples of 4,140 people have been tested of which 1,000 were found to be positive for the disease. Two people have died of dengue so far, Nayak added.

Sources said 115 dengue patients are being treated at the SCB Medial College and Hospital, Cuttack. Eight people were admitted to ICU of the hospital due to grim health condition.

Further, the minister said maximum number of dengue cases were reported from the Tata Steel plant area in Jajpur district.

The department has written a letter to the authorities of Tata Steel plant to take appropriate action after getting a report from a special team sent by the state government to review the situation, Nayak added.
