Bhubaneswar: Lands in Ghangapatna on the outskirts of the capital city which were recently in news for alleged doubtful possession have been taken back into the records of Odisha government, said a minister in State Assembly.

During the Question Hour in the House, Revenue minister Bijayshree Routray said the Gokarneswar Charitable Trust had bought four plots under Ghangapatna mouza from Amod Mohapatra, Narasingha Mohapatra, Haribandhu Naik and Rama Muduli.

As the plots were originally belonged to people from SC category, sellers got approval from the district sub-collector to sell the lands in 1986 and 1987, the minister added.

In the turn of events, Bhubaneswar Additional Collector cancelled the leases and ordered to include the plots under government record book in August 1998.

However, in 2009 and 2010, these plots were registered in the name of Gokarneswar Charitable Trust, the minister added.

In 2014, the government made amendment in the records and took possession of the plots.
