Balasore: Police on Tuesday registred a case against Dr Anup Ghose, the Chief District Medical Officer of Balasore on charge of violating Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act.

Another such case was also registered against the authority of a Balasore based nursing on the same charge, police said.

The cases were registred in Sahadevkhunta police station and in Town police stations, police said.

Dr Anup Ghose said, "I don't know about the complaint lodged with police. But, I will abide by the law."

Two portable ultrasound machines, which are banned in Odisha, were found in possession of doctors during a health department raid on their clinics and residences in the district headquarter town.

The health department team headed by Ranjita Pattnaik raided the medical establishments on November 28 and seized two portable ultrasound machines, banned since 2012 under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act.

Dr. Banabihari Dasmhapatra, ADMO, Family Welfare, who lodged the FIR in Police station said, ?On the direction of Balasore Collector the complain have been lodged.
