Bhubaneswar: BJD and Opposition locked horns over egg attack on two ministers during last three days.
BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb asked Congress activists to stay away from such nefarious activities while saying the party will accept the ‘tit for tat’ policy.
Reacting to the recent developments Deb said, “I would request the PCC president to stay away from such programmes. If they continue to do so, we would counter them. If need arises, a ‘tit for tat’ policy will be taken up. Wherever the Congress activists will do such things, surely BJD activists will get agitated.”
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Lalatendu Mohapatra said, “We are ready to take on the challenge and support the ideology of the youths.”
However, senior Congress leader Suresh Routray and MLA Krushna Chandra Sagaria showed displeasure over the egg hurling incidents and claimed that the party activists are not involved in such acts.
Routray said, “No activists from Congress youth or student wing are involved in the egg hurling case. They will not involve in such demeaning works.”
Echoing similar views, Sagaria said, “The party believes in democracy and we will lodge our protests in democratic manner. The egg attack on the minister is not the party’s decision.”
Mounting his attack on Congress, Excise minister and BJD vice president Damodar Rout said, “The Opposition is playing dirty politics.”
Notably, eggs were thrown at Health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak’s vehicle in Deogarh today. Similar kind of incidents were reported in Puri and Chhatrapur where eggs were hurled by members of Chattra Congress and Youth Congress at the vehicle of Food Supplies Minister Sanjay Dasburma.
