Bhubaneswar: Champua MLA Sanatan Mahakud today landed in trouble after his daughter-in-law filed a torture case against the legislator at Mahila Police Station here.
Complainant Kavita Mahakud, the eldest daughter-in-law of the billionaire legislator, alleged in her complaint that she has been physically and mentally tortured and also subjected to intimidation.
In her complaint, Kavita has alleged that Sanatan Mahakud was forcibly keeping her husband away from her and had got him married a second time. She said she had a daughter from Pankaj with whom she had a love marriage.
She also named her brother-in-law Dinabandhu Barikin the complaint.
Talking to media persons after filing the complaint, Kavita said she would commit suicide in front of Mahakud's house if he continued to keep her husband away from her.
Reacting to the allegation, Mahakud said: “I don’t know who filed the case as my daughter-in-law is in my house.”
The MLA hails from the mineral-rich district and runs a mineral transport company. He fought the assembly election independently against BJD candidate and cine star Tatwaprakash Satpathy alias Papu Pom Pom and won with a comfortable majority.
